MEET THE BAND
From the long tradition of the blues to an unconstrained view of the future, Bushwick Blooze Band brings searing guitar work and soulful vocals from the one and only Brother Dave with solid rhythms from drummer David Cornejo and bassist Chas Rio. The band released their first album, “Cryin’ for the L Train,” in the Fall of 2018 and has been back in the studio composing originals. The band’s compositions span blues to rock, with as much jazz, funk, and yes even country influence as they damn well please. Stay tuned, catch them live in the NYC area, and get a preview of their soon to be released tunes on the Bushwick Blooze YouTube channel.
Brother Dave is a guitarist/vocalist whose passionate and eclectic style defies categorization! While his musical influences are firmly based in Roots and Blues, his stylings are infused with country, rock, and jazz sounds that embody both classic and modern sensibilities.
Since the age of 17, Brother Dave has been gigging with a variety of NYC-based bands, touring all over the East Coast and Europe and performing for audiences of all ages and tastes.
David Cornejo is a formally trained and world-experienced drummer / percussionist. Born in Lima, Peru, he moved to Barcelona at the age of 18, where he studied music and had the opportunity to play with different bands across Europe. He graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music in Boston while continuing to work as a drummer.
Now living and playing in NYC (since 2012), he has already performed in over 1000 shows, working with a wide variety of artists.
Chas Rio plays bass, upright and electric, as well as composing blues originals. He is also working on composing and performing at the intersection of live and electronic music, where blues and jazz soloists push and pull against a techno infrastructure.
Originally a trombonist, after a brief career as a pianist from ages 3-8, he enjoys playing and working with a variety of musicians in the NYC area.
